A recital featuring pianist Un Hee Kim, violinist Unkyoung Kim and cellist Paul Christopher will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

Northwestern State University’s Office of Counseling and Career Services is sponsoring a Spring/Summer Job Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the Friedman Student Union Ballroom. The event is open to Northwestern State students and alumni.

The Northwestern State University Faculty Woodwind Quintet will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4m in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

The program will include works by Jacques Ibert, August Klughardt, Alvin Etler and Leos Janacek.

Benefactor donates trust to NSU Archives

Northwestern State University’s Cammie G. Henry Research Center received a trust of $200,000 from a benefactor whose collection of family documents has been managed by the NSU Archives for more than 40 years.  The bequest from the estate of the late Edward Myers Egan is the largest single monetary donation to benefit Northwestern State’s Eugene P. Watson Memorial Library.

Springhill’s Main Street Program will once again bring Mardi Gras to North Webster Parish on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013.

The festivities begin at 1 p.m. with the Annual Mardi Gras on Main Parade. This year’s theme is “A Roaring Good Time on Main Street”!

Female upper-classmen at Northwestern State University will have to opportunity to apply for a new scholarship aimed at those who demonstrate strong leadership skills and a commitment to community service.

LA turkey hunt lottery ends February 1.

Hunters wanting to go turkey hunting only have until February 1 to apply for this year's turkey season lottery hunt.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says this season there are 10 state wildlife management areas for turkey hunting this spring. For youths, turkey hunting will be on 15 wildlife management areas and five Kisatchie National Forest Ranger Districts.
