N. Webster school holding silent auction for St. Jude | Community Spirit
A Webster Parish elementary school is holding a fundraiser to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital.
The fundraiser is being put on by Browning Elementary in Springhill inside their auditorium. It includes a silent auction and a dress-up contest.
The silent auction will begin at noon on Monday, January 30th, in the Browning auditorium. The auction will conclude at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31st. All money for auction items must be paid no later than noon on Wednesday, February 1st, or it will be awarded to the next highest bidder.
The Mardi Gras dress-up contest for girls and boys attending Browning will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31st in the Browning auditorium. A girl and a boy winner will be awarded for each grade: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades. In addition, we will also have a People's Choice winner which will be determined by which child has the most money donated in their envelope on the night of the contest.
All winners will receive prizes and a spot in the Springhill Mardi Gras parade that will be held on February 4th. All transportation and throws for the parade will be the responsibility of the parents. Winners will also be allowed to make the monetary donation at the Minden St. Jude Auction/Telethon to be held February 2-5, 2012.
The biggest item donated so far is a registered 3 year old filly from Pruet Ranch in Ashdown. We need all horse lovers to help us out by bidding on this. Other auction items include:
Scentsy Basket, fishing stuff, tools, candles, platters, toys, pictures, lamps, jewelry, pecans, and an autographed picture from former Dallas Cowboy quarterback – Troy Aikman.
If the school reaches its goal of $3500.00, Mr. Mills (the principal) will receive a pie in the face.
If you would like to make a donation for St. Jude directly, please send it to the school in an envelope marked St. Jude or donate on the night of the extravaganza.
Please make plans on January 31st, to attend the auction. Admission will be one dollar per person for a night of music, refreshments, contests, and a special appearance by the Jazz Man (Mr. Mac) who will be part of our party. Come have fun while supporting the wonderful work of St. Jude's.
