La. State Police to join DEA in prescription drug take back initiative

The Louisiana State Police (in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration) will participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday in an effort to help local residents rid their homes of potentially dangerous prescription drugs.

Expired, unused, and unwanted medications may be brought for disposal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday to the Louisiana State Police troop location nearest you. This service is free and anonymous and is a great opportunity for those who have accumulated unwanted or unused prescription drugs to dispose of them safely.

Ringgold Police Chief dies after sudden illness

Ringgold Police Chief Lawson Bradley passed away on August 12 after suddenly becoming ill on Wednesday night.

According to Ringgold City Hall, 71-year-old Chief Bradley died from a stroke and heart attack while being treated at Willis-Knighton Pierremont.

Chief Bradley had a long career in law enforcement. He worked for the Bienville Parish Sheriff's Office for 24 years, then was at the Ringgold Police Department for the past 14 years. He spent three months as Interim Police Chief before taking the office permanently in 2003. He was Police Chief for 10 years.
