Man pleads guilty to mail fraud for selling fake Clementine Hunter paintings

A New Orleans man faces up to 20 years in prison after he admitted in federal court that he knowingly sold forged Clementine Hunter painting.

Hunter was an African-American folk artist who lived in Natchitoches Parish. Her paintings, which span about 50 years, vary in value on the open market.

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – A Natchitoches Parish man wanted for allegedly attacking a former girlfriend is now in jail.

Police say 34-year-old Calvin Ray Moss turned himself in to police about 5 p.m. Thursday night. He was booked into the city jail on a charge of 2nd degree battery. His bond was set at $150,000.

NATCHITOCHES PARISH, LA (KSLA) – Two part-time Natchitoches Parish correction officers face criminal charges after investigators say the pair was smuggling contraband into the parish jail.

Deputies arrested 23-year-old Demetrus Jude Lewis and 33-year-old Gary Fontenot after a six-month investigation into an illegal smuggling operation that was bringing contraband into the jail. The contraband include tobacco products, synthetic marijuana, and other narcotics.

Webster Parish Sheriff’s Community Action Directed Patrol arrested Quincy Lamar Harris, 43, of Talton Street in Minden for distribution on Thursday, July 15. Harris was booked for distribution of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), Schedules IV and III, and two counts for distribution of a CDS Schedule II.

Natchitoches man faces felony theft charges for 2nd time in a year

NATCHITOCHES PARISH, LA (KSLA) - A Natchitoches man is in trouble with the law again after deputies say they arrested him for a second time on theft charges.

Deputies say 37-year-old Damon Prothro was charged with one count of felony theft after an investigation showed Prothro stole vehicle rims and copper wire from a local farm.

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office is are looking for a Montgomery, LA man in connection with a late night shooting, in Campti, LA. 

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones, Jr., says the Sheriff's Office got several calls shortly after midnight about a man, possible shot, lying in the middle of Sherry Circle in Campti. Deputies responding to the scene found the victim with a gunshot wound to the head.
