PINEVILLE, LA - The Kisatchie National Forest (KNF) offers two passes for those who utilize the KNF on a regular basis. The annual Trail Use Pass and the annual Day Use Pass, both are now available for purchase at any ranger district station or the Forest Service Supervisor’s Office in Pineville.

The Annual Trail Use Pass ($50) and Annual Day Use Pass ($30) are both good for a calendar year.

Man killed in Bienville Parish rollover wreck

BIENVILLE PARISH, LA (KSLA) - Louisiana State Police investigated a fatal accident in Bienville Parish late Thursday night.

The accident reportedly happened around 10:30 p.m. on Highway 4, two miles west of Castor, Louisiana. According to State Police, the driver, who has been identified as Eddie Barnes, entered a curve and somehow lost control of his vehicle.

The car then reportedly ran off the road and flipped at least two times, according to crash investigators.

GIBSLAND, LA (KSLA) - Officials with the Town of Gibsland, Louisiana in Bienville Parish issued Thursday a Boil Advisory for the entire town.

According to town leaders, the town had been experiencing problems with it's water supply and because of those problems, the water produced by our water supply system is of questionable microbiological quality.

Effective immediately all residents within the town are advised to boil all water for one full minute before use or consumption.

LA Groundwater Management public meeting set for Nov. 9th

The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Office of Conservation will host a series of public meetings in November to provide information on the state’s past and current ground water resources management practices.

DNR officials also hope to draft recommendations for a statewide ground water plan.

A meeting is scheduled to be held in Shreveport, Wednesday, November 9th at 5:30 p.m. and will be held at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum, located at 3015 Greenwood Rd.

Keep Natchitoches Beautiful has been awarded a $4,700 Community Grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful, a non-profit organization formed to assist Louisiana in reducing litter by funding programs that emphasize education, enforcement and cleanups.

The grant proceeds will be used in part to fund educational programs in Natchitoches schools, explaining to students about the importance of keeping Natchitoches a clean, litter-free community.
