Louisiana Food Bank asking for help when you file taxes

Louisiana residents can help fight hunger when they file their taxes by including a contribution to the Louisiana Food Bank Association on line 53 of their tax form. The food bank's efforts help feed people not only in northwest Louisiana, but throughout the state. Louisiana's five food banks assist 645,000 people statewide, 245,000 of which are children.

Kisatchie National Forest waives fees in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. weekend

In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the U.S. Forest Service will waive all fees at recreational sites in Kisatchie National Forest with the exception of camping on Caney Lakes and camping on the Calcasieu Ranger District beginning Saturday, January 14th through Monday, January 16th.

All other recreational activities requiring a fee will be waived.

Claiborne Sheriff's Office seeking missing man

The Claiborne Parish Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding a missing man.

Deputies say 53-year-old Christopher Lamartiniere of Athens left his home at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11. Lamartiniere has health problems that require medications, and deputies say he hasn't had any of his medicines since Tuesday evening.
