The Northwest Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross is relocating to a new home.

The new facility is located at 805 Brook Hollow, Shreveport (next to Country Tavern by the auto mall).

The Red Cross still needs financial help from the public to finish paying for the new building.

Louisiana State Police has zero tolerance for impaired drivers.  To combat impaired driving in our area, Louisiana State Police Troop G will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint this Saturday, March 31, 2012 from approximately 10:00 pm to 4:00 am in Webster Parish.

The mission will be to intercept and incarcerate impaired drivers before they can cause injury or death to themselves, their passengers, or members of the public.

DHH is monitoring a boil advisory for the Sabine Parish #1 water system due to a power outage at a booster station.

DHH is monitoring a boil advisory for the Natchitoches Parish #2 water system. The water system lost pressure due to a line breakage. While the breakage wasn't weather related, weather and high water in the area are impeding the ability to make the necessary repairs.

NSU nursing students help raise money for American Heart Assoc.

Second Level nursing students from Northwestern State University’s Cenla campus in Alexandria participated in the American Heart Association Central Louisiana Heart Walk on March 3.  Faculty and students completed the three-mile walk, contributing to more than $56,000 raised by the Alexandria community.

Northwestern State University is hosting a University Health Day from 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27th at the school's Wellness, Recreation and Activities Center (WRAC). The event is sponsored by the WRAC and the Department of Health and Human Performance. Folks will be able to get free health screenings and information on a number of health topics.
