6 confirmed cases of Scabies found at Webster Parish school

Six cases of Scabies have been confirmed at a Webster Parish elementary school.

Webster Parish Schools Superintendent Steve Dozier says 20 students at Central Elementary in Dubberly were test for the skin disorder. Fourteen tested negative and six tested positive. All the children were either in Pre-K or 1st grade. The six that tested positive have been treated over the last week.

GIBSLAND, LA (KSLA) - Officials with the Town of Gibsland, Louisiana in Bienville Parish issued Thursday a Boil Advisory for the entire town.

According to town leaders, the town had been experiencing problems with it's water supply and because of those problems, the water produced by our water supply system is of questionable microbiological quality.

Effective immediately all residents within the town are advised to boil all water for one full minute before use or consumption.

The advisory will remain in effect until a sample has been tested by the Office of Public H

NSU Greeks host 'Cuts for Cause' event for alumna with cancer

NATCHITOCHES, LA (KSLA) - Northwestern State University’s Tri Sigma Sorority and Theta Chi Fraternity hosted Wednesday, 'Cut for a Cause' fundraiser on the Kyser Brickway on the NSU campus.

The fundraising event is to raise funds to benefit cancer patient, Aly Breaux Erikson, alumna and wife of university recruiter Vanner Erikson. 

Patrons can donate $25 for a shaved head or $5 for a partial shave.

LA Groundwater Management public meeting set for Nov. 9th

The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Office of Conservation will host a series of public meetings in November to provide information on the state’s past and current ground water resources management practices.

DNR officials also hope to draft recommendations for a statewide ground water plan.

A meeting is scheduled to be held in Shreveport, Wednesday, November 9th at 5:30 p.m. and will be held at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum, located at 3015 Greenwood Rd.

'Fill Up to Fight Hunger' campaign raises over $20,000 for Food Bank of NWLA

Filling up at a local Valero station did more than just keep your car running, it also helped feed the hungry in our community.

The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana, a Feeding America member food bank, and Valero, an international manufacturer and marketer of energy products and power, announced today that $20,515 has been raised from the “Fill Up to Fight Hunger” campaign and will be donated to the food bank.
