Natchitoches Fire Chief Dennie Boyt says the fire department will start testing fire hydrants across the city on June 4. Testing will take place through June 15. Waters continue to rise in Natchitoches Parish

NATCHITOCHES, LA (KSLA)- After this week's torrential rains, the water is still rising in Natchitoches Parish.

According to the Natchitoches Parish Office of Homeland Defense, there are hundreds of residents surrounded by rising flood waters.

Louisiana State Police helicopters are taking officials up for an aerial view of the damage, and the Governor's Office on Homeland Security will be in the area Monday to determine if a disaster should be declared.

The Red Cross currently has volunteers and supplies in the area to help flood victims.

DHH is monitoring a boil advisory for the Sabine Parish #1 water system due to a power outage at a booster station.

DHH is monitoring a boil advisory for the Natchitoches Parish #2 water system. The water system lost pressure due to a line breakage. While the breakage wasn't weather related, weather and high water in the area are impeding the ability to make the necessary repairs.
