DeSoto Parish Man gets 20 years for sexual assault of a child

A DeSoto Parish man will spend the next 20 years in jail after pleading guilty to raping a child.

28-year-old Chadwick Watson of Mansfield pled guilty to one count of forcible rape. He was indicted back in March on charges he raped his girlfriend's 11-year-old niece. The assault happened at the aunt's home.

A teenager died over the weekend after he was electrocuted while flying a kite.

The Sabine Parish Coroner's Office said 17-year-old Tyler Burkett was brought to the Sabine Medical Center, where medical personnel worked for an hour to revive him before pronouncing him dead.

A Mansfield, LA man is dead and a teen is charged with his murder after a weekend argument between the two.

Marshall Police arrested 17-year-old Solomon Murray on charges of vehicular homicide and 1st offense DWI. Police say Murray and another man, 22-year-old Corey Cruse, the two got into some type of argument Friday night in the 200 block of Willard St.

Fatal crash claims life of  Haynesville man

A car crash in Claiborne Parish claimed the life of one Haynesville man, Saturday.

State Troopers said the crash that killed James E. Beene of Haynesville occurred just after 4:15 pm, Saturday on LA-2, just west of homer. The investigation revealed that Beene was driving a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria west when he entered a curve, lost control and traveled off of the roadway. The vehicle slid down a grassy embankment sideways and collided with a tree on the driver’s side.

Bean was wearing a seatbelt at the time, but received fatal injuries.

Teen hospitalized after hunting accident

A teenage boy is expected to make a full recovery after being accidentally shot while hunting, Saturday.

Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen says the 14 year-old was airlifted to LSUHSC when he was accidently shot in the leg with a shotgun while dove hunting with his father shortly after noon.

Bossier Parish deputies discovered that the teen and his father were hunting dove in north Bossier Parish near Highway 537, not far from the Arkansas border. Deputies say the teen was having problems loading his shotgun.

Haynesville home fire claims one life

State fire Marshals are investigating the cause of a house fire in Haynesville that left one man dead.

Authorities say the fire that happened just after 2:30 a.m. Friday, on Carter Street in Haynesville.

The victim and his son were in the home at the time of the fire. The son was able to escape without injury.

Construction worker seriously injured in freak accident with dump truck

DESOTO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - A 64-year-old construction worker out of DeSoto Parish is listed in serious condition Thursday afternoon after being involved in a freak accident with a dump truck.

The accident happened on Truevine Rd. off of Highway 533 in southeastern DeSoto Parish, shortly after 12:30 p.m.

According to Chief Deputy, Pat Cobb of the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office, construction workers were overlaying Truevine Rd. at the time of the accident.
