Mikey, a black and white Rat Terrier, went missing on Saturday, November 17, near the family's hunting camp off of Hwy. 2 in Homer.

He ran into the woods after hearing a gunshot and never returned.

NSU Foundation donates $3,200 to animal rescue group

The Northwestern State University Foundation presented proceeds from its Homecoming 5K to Hope for Paws, a non-profit animal rescue group. 

NSU teamed with Natchitoches Hope for Paws in hosting the 5K in which participants were invited to run or walk with their dogs, raising more than $3,200. 

Minden K-9 dies over the weekend

Minden K-9 dies over the weekend

The Minden Police Department has lost  the only member of its K-9 unit.

Kash, a German Shephard and a five-year veteran with the department, died at his handler's home on Sunday. He was 8-years-old.

Natchitoches' Furever Friends Garden grand opening and public tour, May 16

The public is invited to attend an open house to celebrate the opening of the Furever Friends Garden, located at the City of Natchitoches Animal Shelter.

The open house will be held on Wednesday, May 16 at 4:30 p.m. at the City of Natchitoches Animal Shelter, located at 450 Fairgrounds Road.

Dog found in Gibsland area

A dog was found in the Gibsland area Monday.

The dog is a blue male pitbull with a white chest and white socks. The dog is nutured.
