Tax for Doyline school to remain the same

Doyline taxpayers have a reason to celebrate: a new tax the voters passed in District 7 for a $10 million bond to finance construction will not cost them any more than they are currently paying.

Congressman Fleming to hold town hall meeting in Arcadia

Louisiana 4th District Congressman John Fleming, M.D. will host a town hall meeting at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 30 at the Arcadia Town Hall, 1819 S. Railroad Avenue. Folks are encouraged to come to the meeting to speak with the congressman.

State Senate candidate from DeSoto Parish to speak at Republican convention in New Orleans

A candidate for the State Senate District 38 seat will be one of the speakers this weekend at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans.

Troy Terrell, who is also a Mansfield City Councilman, said he was honored by the invitation to appear at the conference.

Claiborne Parish educator to run for Governor of LA

Claiborne Parish, LA (KSLA) - Tara Hollis, a public educator with Claiborne Parish Schools and a conservative Democrat, has announced her candidacy for the Louisiana Governorship.

Hollis spoke before the Claiborne Parish School Board in Homer on May 11th, to address the recent budget cuts that led to the layoff of more than 60 personnel from the schools in Claiborne Parish.
