Cane River Green Market to celebrate National Watermelon Month

The Cane River Green Market will have special activies planned on Saturday, July 16 in celebration of National Watermelon Month.

Some of the activites planned include samples of locally grown watermelons and watermelon punch, and a watermelon eating contest. Prizes will be awarded in the watermelon eating competition.

Legion Baseball Mid-South Regional Tournament coming to Minden

Minden is hosting one of its biggest sporting events ever when the American Legion Mid-South Region 4 Tournament comes to town on August 4 - 8. The games will take place at Griffith Memorial Stadium, 808 Constable Street.

Entrants include State Champions from: Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi and Minden the host team.

Solar Energy Forum coming to Springhill on July 6

The Springhill-North Webster Chamber of Commerce will hold a Solar Energy Public Forum at 1:30 p.m. July 6 in the Blue Room Civic Center, across from the mayor's offices. Energy Expert Dave Mitchell will be there to talk about solar energy and how you can make money by selling energy back to the electrical grid.

The Minden/South Webster Chamber of Commerce has several Fourth of July activies planned for the upcoming weekend:
