Drug Task Force K9's search three Natchitoches Parish schools

NATCHITOCHES PARISH, LA (KSLA) – Drug canines searched three Natchitoches Parish high schools on Friday, Sept. 16th; as part of, an ongoing effort to ensure that students in Natchitoches Parish are safe while at school.

Agents with the Multijurisdictional Drug Task Force and members of law enforcement agencies around the parish dispatched seven K9’s to search Natchitoches Central High School, Lakeview High School, and St.

Ebarb student recognized for his leadership in his school and community

A student from Ebarb High School is the latest to be honored by Chesapeake Energy in its Discovering Tomorrow's Leader's Contest.

16-year-old Samuel Laroux was selected from more than 70 nominations submitted by parents, teachers, principals and classmates. He, alone, received ten nominations. Samuel was recognized for his leadership qualities within his school and community.

As part of the contest, Chesapeake also donated $1,000 work of equipment to Ebarb High School.

Northwestern State University will hold its annual Fall Cheer Clinic for children in pre-K through 12th grade on Saturday, Oct. 1 in conjunction with the NSU-McNeese football game.  Participants will cheer on the sidelines during the football game until halftime.  Squads and individuals are welcome.

NSU sets record for scholarship auction

The August Scholarship Auction 2011 to benefit Northwestern State athletics hit a high mark this year, raising 30 percent more money than the previous auction in 2009.

This year's biennial auction raise $86,400 for the scholarship program. The event was held at the end of August in the Natchitoches Events Center.
