Six cases of Scabies have been confirmed at a Webster Parish elementary school.
Webster Parish Schools Superintendent Steve Dozier says 20 students at Central Elementary in Dubberly were test for the skin disorder. Fourteen tested negative and six tested positive. All the children were either in Pre-K or 1st grade. The six that tested positive have been treated over the last week.
Northwestern State University will hold its annual spring cheer clinic for children in pre-K through grade 12 Saturday, Jan. 28 in conjunction with the NSU men’s basketball against Southeastern Louisiana University. Participants will cheer during the basketball game until halftime. Squads and individuals are welcome.
The Northwestern State University Student Government Association teamed with their counterparts at the NSU Elementary Lab School to raise money and awareness about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Northwestern State SGA officers met with youngsters to talk about importance of St. Jude in research and treating childhood cancers, aswell as the benefits of staying involved with student government.
Patty Kime McAllister sifted through a pile of lithographic prints, explaining which will be included in her upcoming exhibition and the inspiration behind each one. Some of the prints are experiments in value, the gradation in tone from light to dark, a concept that will be important in the next step of McAllister’s career. Her exhibition is the last step in completing a graduate degree in art at Northwestern State University and moving on to her next challenge – implementing an art program for the visually impaired.
