Two Northwestern State University Theatre and Dance productions have been entered into the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. Fourteen theatre and dance students have also been recognized for their work in fall productions.

Thirty-two Northwestern State University students were named to the 2012 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges.

The students were chosen by campus nominating committees and editors of the annual directory based on their academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.

Northwestern State University inducted new members into the international business honor society, Beta Gamma Sigma.  Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student can receive in a business program accredited by Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International.

Natchitoches Community Care Center contributed to a scholarship to benefit nursing students pursuing clinical studies. 

The Natchitoches Community Care Center Endowed Scholarship in Nursing is a $500 one-year award, with preference for a Natchitoches resident.

Dr. Tommy Hailey, an associate professor of anthropology in Northwestern State University’s Department of Criminal Justice, History and Social Sciences, reported findings from archaeological research he completed in Nebraska earlier this year in which he demonstrated how aerial photography can enhance archaeological research.

NSU student wins state piano competition

NSU student wins state piano competition

Northwestern State University student MinJeong Kim recently won first place in the Young Artist division of the annual Louisiana Music Teachers Association piano competition. She will advance to regional competition in January.

Kim performed works by Bach, Mozart, Chopin and Dutilleux during the 60-minute competition covering the baroque, classical,romantic and 20th century periods.
