Webster Parish schools earn 'green' award

The Webster Parish School Board, with help from Storer Building Services, earned a Sustainability Award in the "Operational Excellence Champion" category.

The award honors those that have shown a commitment to the sustainable operations of a facility.

Actor to speak at Northwestern on Friday

Actor Colin Trahan returns to his Natchitoches roots Friday as part of Louisiana Scholars' College's 25th anniversay celebration.

Trahan, an alumnus of Northwestern State University, speaks at noon on Oct. 12 in Room 227 of Morrison Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

"Smokey Joe's Cafe" opening at NSU theater

The Grammy Award winning musical revue "Smokey Joe's Cafe" is ready to hit the stage inside Theater West at Northwestern State University.

The show, presented by NSU Theater and Dance, features 39 different classic tunes from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Songs in the revue include 'Kansas City', 'Charlie Brown' and 'Hound Dog'. The show opened on Broadway in 1995 and had a run of over 2,000 performances.

Northwestern State University student Ashley O’Corr Davis of Pleasant Hill was selected as the recipient of the 2012 Louisiana Association of Business Educators Postsecondary Scholarship, a one-semester award of $500.

A variety of shows coming to NSU Theater and Dance this season

Northwestern State University Theatre and Dance will present timeless classics as well as contemporary and original works during its 2012-13 season.

This season’s schedule includes Smokey Joe’s Café on Oct. 11-13 and 17-20, A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Nov. 7-10, Eleemosynary on Feb. 21-23 and Feb. 27 – March 2, West Side Story on March 20-23 and Revelations of Dance on April 19-20.
