The NW Louisiana Pro Sports Festival hosted by Homer Mayor Alecia Smith and Buffalo Bills Tackle Demetrius Bellare offering a free football and cheer camp starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 17 at Mayfield Park in Homer. From 12 until 2, there's a free elementary football and cheer camp with NFL players for kids in grades 1-6. The high school football skills camp runs from 2 - 4:30.  There is a form that must be filled out for the child to take part in the camp.

Folks who own property along the banks of Lake Bistineau can attend a pesticide training session from 8 a.m. - noon on February 18 at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries' office at 9961 Hwy. 80 in Minden.

Toledo Bend State Park near Zwolle has reopened their boat launch into Toledo Bend. Back in July, boat launches at the north and sound ends of the reservoir were closed because of extremely low water levels.

The South Toledo Bend State Park boat launch will remain closed until the boat lanes can be dredged by the Sabine River Authority.
