Hunter charged with felony firearm possession

Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Agents arrested a Bossier Parish man on felony firearm charges after he spent the night lost in the woods.

LDWF agents say 37-year-old Ray McKinney of Benton was found outside of Jamestown by a landowner who said McKinney was hunting on the landowner's property without permission. When the landowner confronted McKinney, he ran into the woods. He ended up getting lost and spent the night in the woods.

Wildlife agents and Bienville Parish Deputies found McKinney the next morning near Hwy. 507.

PINEVILLE, LA - The Kisatchie National Forest (KNF) offers two passes for those who utilize the KNF on a regular basis. The annual Trail Use Pass and the annual Day Use Pass, both are now available for purchase at any ranger district station or the Forest Service Supervisor’s Office in Pineville.

The Annual Trail Use Pass ($50) and Annual Day Use Pass ($30) are both good for a calendar year.

Tuesday, January 3rd through 7th, the American Coin Buyers Guild will be in Minden, Louisiana as part of their world tour. During this event at the Holiday Inn Express, located at 1332 Sibley Rd., specialists will analyze and appraise coins and paper currency.

The public is invited to stop by with any and all old gold coins, old paper money, gold, silver, diamonds, antiques, vintage toys, rare musical instruments, costume jewelry and weapons from WWI, WWII, and the Civil War for appraisal. The event will be held from Tuesday - Friday, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Keep Natchitoches Beautiful has been awarded a $4,700 Community Grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful, a non-profit organization formed to assist Louisiana in reducing litter by funding programs that emphasize education, enforcement and cleanups.

The grant proceeds will be used in part to fund educational programs in Natchitoches schools, explaining to students about the importance of keeping Natchitoches a clean, litter-free community.

NATCHITOCHES–After the Northwestern State Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 15, enjoy a free concert and street dance in downtown Natchitoches.

Boogie on the Bricks will be held from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Front Street after the NSU home football game against Southeastern, which will kickoff at 6 p.m. at Turpin Stadium on Oct. 15.

The concert will feature the band Dollar Short, the official rock band of the Louisiana Swamp and Roll Show and the winner of the Best Band in St.

Volunteers help disabled folks enjoy the outdoors with a Handicap Hunt

Experienced hunters took off into the woods on October 1 as part of the Wheelin' Sportsman Handicap Hunt, giving five folks who have different disabilities a chance to experience the outdfoors.

This most recent hutting experience was a deer/hog hunt at the Blue Run Hunting Club in Minden.
