Claiborne Parish residents who travel LA 518 near Lisbon will need to take a different route beginning Monday, August 27.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will begin repairing the pilings on the Gee Creek Bridge. The bridge is just southwest of Lisbon and a little over three miles south of LA 2.

With the bridge completely closed, drivers will need to use LA 146, US 79 and LA 2 as detour routes. The work should be done by August 31, weather permitting.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says they will close part of LA 765 in DeSoto Parish northeast of Logansport. Pilings at the Garrison Creek bridge need repairs. The work, weather permitting, will begin Monday, August 13 at 8:30 a.m. and should be finished in about five days. With the road completely closed, drivers will have to use Adam's Road and LA 764 as a detour route.

Louisiana State Police and the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office will set up a DWI checkpoint somewhere in the parish on Monday, June 18. The checkpoint will run from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.
