BIENVILLE PARISH, LA (KSLA) - The Louisiana Department of Transportation says starting at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, they will close a bridge along LA Hwy. 507 near Castor in Bienville Parish.
Natchitoches Parish officials advise citizens that the Cane River lake is still closed to boating traffic as of Monday. Authorities say only non-powered and trolling motor boats are allowed to be on the river. The closure is due to high water.
Residents can expect the river to remain closed to boating traffic until the lake drops down to a level of 98.5 inches and continues to fall.

Louisiana State Police has zero tolerance for impaired drivers. To combat impaired driving in our area, Louisiana State Police Troop G will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint this Saturday, March 31, 2012 from approximately 10:00 pm to 4:00 am in Webster Parish.
The mission will be to intercept and incarcerate impaired drivers before they can cause injury or death to themselves, their passengers, or members of the public.

A pair of northwest Louisiana parishes can now better help the elderly and disabled in their areas thanks to a state transportation program.
The Red River Council on Aging and DeSoto Habilitation Services were two of 12 agencies given new vans as part of the state's Department of Transportation and Development's Elderly and Disabled Program and the Rural Public Transportation Program.
Seventeen vans total were given away on Thursday. DOTD hopes to spend just over $5M to provide 133 vans during the rest of the year.
