The City of Natchitoches has lifted a city-wide boil order.  While residents may see increased water pressure, service conditions may continue to fluctuate across the system and it is possible that customers could see some service variations until the entire situation stabilizes.

The City of Natchitoches has issued a city-wide boil order due to low water pressure.  All customers of the City of Natchitoches, Water Works District #1, and Clarence water system are under the boil order.  Natchitoches is facing historically the highest consumption demand ever for water.  Due to the unprecedented usage the city will impose mandatory water restrictions.

On Wednesday, August 24th, two volunteers from the Northwest Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross will head to a staging area in North Carolina in the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) for a possible disaster response from Hurricane Irene.

Volunteers Rachel Byrd of Shreveport and Lonzo Sheffield of Bossier City will be leaving in the ERV at 9am from the Red Cross chapter, located at 4221 Linwood Avenue in Shreveport.

The Pinehill Water System in Claiborne Parish has issued a boil advisory for all its customers. The advisory will remain in effect until further notice. Emergency repairs to the water well necessitated the boil advisory.

City of Natchitoches asking for voluntary water restrictions from residents

The City of Natchitoches is again asking its residents and businesses to conserve water, this time with a few suggested restrictions.

Odd-numbered addresses may use water outdoors on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Even or unnumbered can water outside on Mondays Wednesdays and Saturdays. No outdoor water use should be done on any day between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The Louisiana Office of State Parks has closed the boat launches at North Toledo Bend State Park, near Zwolle, and South Toledo Bend State Park, near Anacoco, to boat traffic. The water levels at the boat ramps at both parks are 12-14 inches deep, making it unsafe to launch boats.
